Welcome to Martin Wallis Photography.
I love diving and wildlife, with a particular interest in birds, and have combined my love of photography with both of these interests.
My early days in diving were all about hunting crayfish, but no longer. I always carry my camera now, as opposed to a catch bag. I started underwater photography with a Canon G7, and got some pleasing results with that camera, then moved to the Canon 40D SLR and discovered a whole new level of photography. Now I’m using the Canon 7D which is great! I house it in an Aquatica underwater housing for diving, and use 2 Ikelite strobes for lighting.
Underwater I shoot with either the Canon 60mm macro lens or the Tokina 10-17mm fish-eye lens, and shoot my avian subjects with the Canon 100-400mm L IS lens.
Most of my diving is done on nitrox these days and I recently completed the T.D.I. advanced nitrox and decompression procedures courses with Pete Mesley from Dive T.E.C. That was in early 2010. At the beginning of 2011 I again upgraded my dive skills and learnt to dive the Inspiration re-breather, once again with Pete Mesley.
